Rocket Engine: JavaScript Game Development FTW
Rocket Engine is a new game development library and IDE for the web. It is designed to make developing games that work cross browser and on mobile devices a cinch, and with its drag and drop IDE, Rocket Builder, “you can easily edit your game on-the-fly, wherever you are, no coding required”. Rocket Engine supports many advanced features found in game engines, including:
- Animated sprites
- Orthographic and isometric tile rendering
- Audio playback
- Collision detection
- Pathfinding
- AI state machines
- …and many many more
While currently the rendering engine uses pure HTML and DOM manipulation, it could easily change to rendering in canvas or WebGL when those technologies are supported across all of its target platforms.
